Gear And Groove

     This is where I got my start; making instrumental music for the car parts/multimedia website, as well as occasionally doing video coverage of car shows to promote the site. I eventually got caught up in the import car scene hype, and my first album (sponsered by GearAndGroove.com), "Movin: Skid One" was born.

     As the years rolled by, however, the site and brand have changed; now it is an online magazine catering to many car enthusiasts, covering various events across the SoCal area. Many aspects of multimedia (photos, models, music, videos) are still covered, but now with a cleaner, more sophisticated approach. Be sure to give them a 'holla', as they still support me and my music to this day!

ReverbNation

     If I didn't have my own website up and running, Reverbnation would be the place I would mainly have all my content on. Its been about a year and a half since I've signed up on it, and although I barely use it nowadays, I still try to keep it updated in conjunction with my other sites that I'm on. Reverbnation has so many widgets to help you out on promoting your music to the masses, the only excuse not to get your music out there is to be one lazy human being.

Jango Internet Radio

     Jango is a great place to promote your music as well. Similar to Pandora, Jango is an internet radio service that allows its user to listen to music according to their tastes. The good thing about other artists using it is that you can cater to listeners and the artists they listen to by selecting which artists you mostly sound like. What this system does is grab those listeners and lets them know about your music, they listen, and if they like your stuff they'll add your station to their playlists. Artists can also email fans either singularly or their whole fanbase and let them know about their updates. Youtube

     Good 'ol Youtube, where you can post videos of the most obscene material and get 1,000,000 views on it...but alas, another great tool to promote your music on. There isn't very much to explain about Youtube; EVERYBODY knows about the site, and if you don't, well...google it? O_o

     Back in my 'Gear And Groove' days, I was doing video coverage of the car shows that I attended, and posted vlogs of the footage; which, in turn, got me to create my youtube page. I thought it'd be good to promote my first album in the footage as well: Kill two birds with one stone (take that-take that!). Lately, however, I haven't been posting videos on my page because of other endeavors. I plan to do so for the promotions for the EPs/LPs I'll be working on, as well as giving you the scoop of the artists/contributors in the EmCDL world. Of course, those videos posted on Youtube will also make their way over here to this site so.....

Twitter

     Man......who isn't on this 140-character only social networking site??? It's this site or Facebook right? Yes, I also have a twitter for fans of the site; yet I'm not like most artists promoting their music 24-7, spamming people to death about it and have auto-tweets set-up like I'm really that important. I actually communicate with my followers, and also follow back most of them too (keyword: most, not all), as well as other artists I'm a fan of. I also talk about random stuff, have quite the potty mouth, talk about slimmies (you will learn the word 'slimmie' when you get to know me more on there), and roast people occasionally. So yeah, I'm a character on that site....promoting music on there is usually an afterthought to me. But I do it because that's really one of the main reasons I opened it up...everything else just kind of followed suit.

FaceBook

     Yep, I'm on Facebook too...hey, I'm a indie musician trying to make it in this vast land of the internets ok? Well, nothing worth mentioning about Facebook that you don't know already (and once again, if you don't know about this site....google it....O_o). One good thing about the site is that they've gave artists more options as far as configuring their page, unlike a couple of years ago, they didn't let you do anything other than making a page and posting your links to your music on there. So, if your on there one day and happen to remember me and my music ("oh yeah, let me see whats up with this EmCDL Facebook page!"), be sure to 'Like' my page. I usually update this page on the regular as if it was my main tunnel for getting my music out there....and that's because I have a regular profile on there as well.....sigh.....

BandCamp

     This is one of my favorite sites; it's a little more straight to the point as far as getting your music out there (you bascially have to let people know about your page or link it to something), but it gets the job done; especially if you already have a thick fanbase. You can post your singles, EPs, and LPs on your site...yes, its basically like having your own site to sell your music, or distribute it for free. Hell, you can even get fans to name their own price of what your music is worth. Whenever I have new music, I post it to my bandcamp page after posting it on my main site; thats how good the site is. Some known artists use it as well (Bun B from UGK anyone?), so you know what the deal is.

SoundCloud

Soundcloud is a pretty dope site; it's like a combination of Twitter (with the follower/following aspect) and Facebook (commenting). You're able to post up music on your page, and fellow hybrids and hybridnettes come by and check out your work. You can literally comment on a certain part of a song on the blue bar of whatever track your listening to. You can follow folks with similar tastes in music, as there are both fans and musicians on the site. There are also industry folks on the site as well, and they may come across your work and use it in other projects or help garner you a record deal. You can also embed your player on other websites so folks can listen to your music. The only thing about the site is that there is a limit to how much music you can put on there...unless you pay a subscription fee of course.
