Welcome to what I like to call 'EmVid', where I will be posting either videos that I've done of my music/vlogs/etc., or random videos I've found that I liked and want to post on the site. It will be mostly either deep house, chillout-lounge, hip hop music, or vlogs of me, people in my circle and well....random stuff. So enjoy!

This video I found on DeepHousePageForums and just had to post it on the site, very creative. I liked how the producer used Cosby samples in the beat! Check it out and comment!

Did everyone enjoy their holidays and have a Happy New Year? Well I hope so...because now that we all know that the world isn't coming to an end (yet...O_o), its time to get crackin' on those NYE resolutions! It's a new year, which means new aspirations, inspirations, income tax refunds...and new content on TheEmCDLEffect.com! (Damn right I was gonna promote my site on here, why not? ^_^?).

Anyway, for the 1st Artist Alarm (and the 1st *gasp* female Artist Alarm) of the new year, I tip my imaginary fedora to the highly talented songstress Ms. Mina Leon. Ms. Mina has just released her debut LP, "Running Red Lights" (available on Bandcamp and iTunes), and let me tell you....after listening to it, I could have sworn my ears had an orgasm (you know, when you get those 'chills'? Yeah...that.). Mina has a beautiful, soulful voice; place that voice on top of ol' school boom-bap production as well as her fierce hip hop cadence to any track she attacks, and you got yourself a stew going babeh! (Sorry, been watching Arrested Development O_O).

I met Mina via Twitter, thru a random retweet of her music on my timeline. I decided to do a little recon on her website, www.minaleon.com, and was exponentially pleased by what I heard. So, with a new album out to showcase her voice and songwriting skills, I thought it'd be quite wise to do an Artist Alarm on her....don't you agree?

Mina seriously states that she is 'from the future', although Washington D.C. circa 1980 is when she landed when coming thru the space-time continuum, and it's where she's claimed her livelihood ever since....but how did she get into music, you ask? "I've been fascinated with sound for as long as I can remember", she says, "almost like I would find ways to make music with [the] environment in my head". She states that while she was sitting in the backseat of her parents' car while it was raining, she would "[make] up songs to the rhythm of the windshield wipers". Yep, told you she wasn't from this time....

Although artists have many inspirations as far as other musicians inspiring them, Mina has only one in mind: Ella Fitzgerald. Watching a live performance of her on PBS as a child solidified Mina's reasoning for becoming a vocalist, not just a 'singer'. "Everything she says, her mannerisms, the way she uses her voice, [has] inspired me", she says of Ella's performance.

Other than the great Ella, Mina mentions that her iPod is a 'clusterfudge' of music, ranging from Hip Hop, Soul and R&B to Country, Folk, Ambient, and Big Band. Other artists she's a fan of include such mainstream acts such as Imogen Heap, Lady Antebellum, Lauryn Hill, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, to indie acts such as Tese Fever (future Artist Alarm *hint hint*), The Real Jay Mills, and Reesa Renee. The one known as Mina has analyzed our time's music very well....

So, without further adieu, check out her single from her debut LP, 'New Day' (available for free download on her Bandcamp page), peep the "Running Red Lights" promo video, and do yourself a favor and cop the album while your at it, by clicking on the album artwork; trust me, you will not be disappointed (and I mean that because I rarely disappoint....keyword: RARELY). Enjoy!

Once again, its been a hot flaming minute since I last updated this site...but then again, you know the usual: School, work, etc. But most importantly I've been busy working on my music....FINALLY! I had a lot of downtime lately and finally out of my 'producer's block', and now I'm back on the grindage that is music. As you know, I've been heavily influenced by the deep house/chillout-lounge electronica vibe, and have incorporated that particular sound into my production; actually, moreso than the usual hip hop/R&B fare I was doing in the beginning (actually combining the elements). I just feel like that this is where my sound is going in the long run; of course I'll be still experimenting with my music per always, but this is what I mainly want to do as far as my production. If you haven't already, check out my past blog Naked Music Infatuation and listen to some of the tunes from Naked Music Recordings that have been inspiring me.

Anyway, like the title of this post reads, I will be releasing my first deep house/electronica single from off my upcoming EP, 'Music & Wine' (Part 2 of The Hybrid Way Saga) on my birthday November 16th. I thought to myself that its been a long time since I've released any music to you guys and I want you to hear what I've been working on as far as my new sound...releasing it on my birthday is a plus ^_^! This single will give you an idea of what to expect on the EP, as well as songs with some female vocals and a little bit of hip hop to even it out. This is a new sound I'm currently experimenting with, and I hope that you hybrids and hybridnettes will enjoy it!

I apologize in advance for the constant promotion I'll be doing on Twitter and other social networking sites *put on armor* I'm ready!

This hybrid (aka 'me') has been extremely busy lately with school (which is over for the semester whoot whoot!), gym time, work, and doing my own music, as well as maintaining the website. I thank all of you who have been patient with me thus far, and hope that the hybrids/hybridnettes that I've been featuring on here get the exposure and recognition they so rightfully deserve! Now where was I?....ah yes...

Nonetheless, I'm here with a brand 'spank that slimmie's taddy' new Artist Alarm for you hybrids and hybridnettes to take a gander at: He goes by the name of Raheim Supreme. I got in contact with this hybrid via Twitter (what's new? I'm ALWAYS on Twitter O_o) thru first talking with his sister, who then linked me to one of his Youtube videos of him freestyling. Honestly, I thought the hybrid was dope...but I was looking for more....then suddenly a couple of weeks ago, Rahiem released his mixtape 'Genesis'. I gave a listen to his first project, and I can officially say that 'Genesis' is on my top 5 albums I will be bumpin' this summer....yes, its THAT good. His own renditions on various instrumentals from you're favorite 90s era hip hop artists as well as his wordplay and flow should have you feeling the same.

Originally from Northwest Washington D.C., Raheim Surpreme (gov't name Cecil Headley) was heavily influenced by 90s era hip hop from artists such as Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Black Thought, Notorious B.I.G., Outkast and The Fugees. "[In the 90s era of Hip Hop], lyrics were [very] important and you had to be original to stand out", he says of his influences as of late. "Just growing up listening to it, I always liked the creativity of the lyrics and the bass and drums on the instrumentals". Hip hop, in general, with a good, powerful message and something relatable to the people inspires the most out of this hybrid and the music he continually creates; I can definitely dig it.....and he's just getting started, as he has more in store for his new found fans; he's been receiving critical acclaim on both his new mixtape and his live shows since its release.

So you know the deal hybrids and hybridnettes: check out some of this hybrid's tracks on the player below; if you like them (which I know you will), click on the album artwork to download his new mixtape. Check out some of those videos below as well, and follow him on twitter at @RahiemSupreme ; let him know that you're diggin' his music! Enjoy!

Yeah, I know its been a minute....I've been busy lately with finals and this new job of mine, as well as setting things in motion for 'The Music & Wine EP'. Can't wait till I'm done with school so I'll have time to work on it! *Counts days on calender*.

Anyway, with this 'Randoms Bloggin' post, I decided to do something different. There has been constant talk about the slang that I use constantly on various social networking sites and in public, so I finally wanted to clarify what my slanguage means to all the people out there. Now, before you begin to get ya read on, there may be some things you may (or may not) get offended by.....sorry folks, it's my slang and I'm not changing it any time soon. So if you want to refrain from getting your feelings hurt, don't read on.....

.....But if you can give a rat's ass about it and get some laughs in, then go on ahead and get ya read on. This was actually kinda fun putting together for the past couple of days, especially considering how busy I've become lately. This is by no means a definitive list, as there may be more added in the future.

So, without further adieu, let us start with the slanguage....

Hybrid - A man that handles his business; got his own job, does not live with his parents and has his own place (or at least has a roommate(s)), has goals and is out to achieve them....no matter what they are and what people think of them. Hybrids also have positive attitudes towards other people, as well as common sense. I kind of been using this meaning as my regular saying instead of saying 'homie', 'dawg', etc.

Hybridnette - A classy woman of the same calibur as a hybrid: Lives on her own, has goals and trying to reach them, doesn't deal with drama or complain about not having materialistic things, attractive, sexy and most importantly, they are down to earth. Hybridnettes may have a geeky-artistic yet sexy-intelligent factor in them as well, and know exactly what they want.

Slimmie - A woman that is of 'hotness' factor: Very attractive, sexy looking, and possess goddess-like curves. Calling a female a 'slimmie' means that you are telling them just that....nothing else, as there is a huge difference between them and hybridnettes. There are different types of slimmies based on race, i.e. black slimmies, hispanic/latina slimmies, white slimmies, asian slimmies, etc....you get it right? If you watch 'Fresh Prince Of Bel Air' regularly, then you know this isn't really a new term....just one I simply brought back.

A few of my hybrids and I have codewords for the types of slimmies as well, but they will not be disclosed here...or ever for that matter. We use these words when we are in a public setting so to not bring up commotion with anyone. However, there are a few codewords that I can officially disclose, only because, well....they not really slimmies....

Gorillas - Codeword for fat women, or what they like to call themselves 'BBW (Big Beautiful Women, or as I like to call them, Big, Broad and Wide)'. They are 9 times out of 10 comfortable with their huge...uhh....exterior body, and have a tendency to bash on slimmies/hybridnettes....yeah, that's all I'ma say about that -__-

Grenades - If you 've watched at least an episode of Jersey Shore then you already know what this means: ugly-as-all-hell women *blows Grenade Whistle*. But, this is also within preference; you know what they say, 'one man's trash is another man's treasure'.....

Hangers - Extremely skinny/bony women....and I'm talking BONY. I actually got this term from a comedian at his show awhile back; he was talking about how his girlfriend was in the bed with him and poking him with her sharp elbows like they were wire hangers.

Polar Bears - These are women who are becoming 'near-gorillas'...basically they were hot at one point, but decided to let themselves go weight-wise. Polar Bears are also women that seem to have potential if they were to make an effort to exercise and fix themselves up, ultimately becoming slimmie/hybridnette status ^_^.

Slutmonkeys - The name says it all. Golddiggers commonly fall in this category as well.

Suicide Bombers - Women who wear clothing waaaaaaay out of their jurisdiction, i.e. women with huge guts wearing tight clothing or women wearing sandals with 'Pornstar Feet'.....

Pornstar Feet - If you watch porn films *raises hand*, you'll see that some of them slimmies have some dirt shifted on the bottom of their feet. They look all nice and dandy on the top of their feets with their toes all pedicured up, but the bottom of their feet are dirty, calloused up and ashy as all hell. This is what I like to call 'Pornstar Feet'. Also, when your feet is all ashy and your toenail polish is chipping off: That is also of pornstar feet status. Don't trip, as this isn't just for slimmies....dudes can get this too (the calloused up-ashy part)! Take care of them feets!

Angel Feet - The complete opposite of pornstar feet; immaculate, non-calloused, smooth and moisterized feets that only angels can acquire...you can also acquire this feat by taking care of ya feets!

Jank - This word is derived from Virginia, my home state; most notably, from the Hampton Roads county area of VA. It's most known for being used as a noun, i.e. referring to an item or activity ('yo that jank was dope!'), referring to a male/female ('I don't mess with them types of janks no more'), or referring to a place or activity you went to ('you gotta go to that jank dawg! Slimmies errwhere! Whooooo!').

Smang/Smanguage - To have great sexual intercourse/art of performing great sexual intercourse. Shoutout to Turqouise Jeep Records on their song "Lemme Smang It"....it just kinda stuck to me once I saw that video...

Wang/Wanguage - the penis/act of performing extra-curricular sexual performance on a slimmie/hybridnette with your wang.

Poncho - my slang for condom.

Poontcat - a slimmie's/hybridnette's vag

Tiggums - a slimmie's/hybridnette's breasts

Taddy - a slimmie's/hybridnette's buttocks

Frodo-ed - I made this term up when I found out what the actual word meant in my Human Sexuality Sociology class. Basically, the slang 'Frodo' comes from the actual term 'Frotteurism', which is a common paraphilia in which a person obtains sexual pleasure by pressing or rubbing against another person in a crowded public place. Then, I thought of Frodo Baggins in The Lord Of The Rings, combined the two terms, added some salt, pepper, some carrots, and I had a stew going! You now have Frodo-ed! So next time a male or female rubs up against you in the club, you can commence to saying 'that nigra/slimmie frodo-ed me!', or for guys, if a slimmie rubs against one of your hybrids, you can be like 'damn nigra she frodo-ed the hell outta you! How you get that??? And does she have a friend so I can be frodo-ed???'

Saddidy-ism - The art of slimmies acting like they are too good for you, stuck up with their nose in the air; this art contains the skills 'Bitch Tactics', 'Golddigger's Attack', 'Semen Stealer (levels 1, 2, and 3)' and 'Bus Pass/Bedframe Trade'. You reeeeeeally have to watch out for slimmies using this art...they could use these skills on you and you won't even know it. Steer clear from them, or be prepared to have your pockets on E!!!

On My Davenport - Instead of saying all that 'swag' crap, this is my saying. 'Davenport' is just another word for couch. I say this with the meaning that you are working hard, but chillin at the same time; not sweatin' the small ish and only worried about whats important to you. Yep, I'm definitely on my davenport.

Lamers - My slang for 'haters', although they are more than that in my eyes. Lamers are constantly in a negative mood, complain constantly about what they don't have (and not content with what they have), do not possess any type of common sense whatsoever, and they rather sit on their ass and be lazy instead of getting up and getting theirs. They congregate together when necessary in meetings, which are called...

The Tread - When all the Lamers get together to hate on everything in their path, 'The Tread' is created. Numerous treads are created all throughout the world, trying to spread their negative influences to many hybrids and hybridnettes to get them to join their circle. Be careful out there! Keep that positive attitude up, stay fit, goal oriented, down to earth and you will be able to repel against their various tactics.

Welp, that's all I have for now....I'm sure I'll have more as time passes by! Enjoy your read, leave your feedback (no Lamers/Tread congregations in my comments section), and see if you can use some of the terms above in your daily activities. Until next time hybrids/hybridnettes....
